Naogaon: A 6-year-old boy was allegedly burnt to death by his step mother at Srirampur Modyopara village in Manda upazila of Naogaon on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased is Arafat Hossain, son of Moklesur Rahman, a resident of the village.

Local people said after divorce with Anguri Bibi, Moklesur Rahman married Sathi Akhter, a year ago.

Sathi used to torture Anguri’s son Arafat.

As there was no family members in the house in the afternoon, Sathi poisoned Arafat.

She later burnt down the body, said Mozaffar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Manda Police Station.

Police arrested Sathi from the house.

A case was filed with the Manda Police in this connection.
