Man jailed for life for killing wife in Tangail

Tangail: A court in Tangail on Tuesday convicted a man and sentenced him to life imprisonment for killing his wife on 28 october 2013, reports UNB.
The court also fined him TK 10,000, by default, three months more imprisonment.
The convicted killer is Sohrab Ali, 40, of Madarjani village in Gopalpur upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution, Sohrab used to torture his wife Champa Begum over dowry.
On 28 October 2013, the man beat his wife to death following a quarrel over dowry.
On 29 October, the deceased’s brother Minhaz filed a case with Gopalpur Police Station under the Prevention of Repression on Women and children Act.
Examining all the records and witnesses, District Sessions Judge Sharif Uddin Ahmed handed down the verdict.
