10 Jamaat-Shibir men among 43 held in Satkhira
Satkhira: Police in several special drives arrested 43 people, including 10 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir, for their suspected militant involvement from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning from several places of Satkhira.
Inspector of Special Branch of police of the district Mizanur Rahman said police arrested 18 people from sadar upazila, three from Kolaroa upazila, two from Tala upazila, six from Kaliganj upazila, five from Shyamnagar and Ashashuni upazilas each, two from Debhata and two from Patkelghata upazila.
Police arrested them for their suspected involvement in militant activities as part of the government’s anti-militancy campaign, the inspector added.
Most of the arrestees were wanted in several cases, including for subversive activities, filed with separate police stations, Mizanur said.
