Five given death penalty for killing Narsingdi schoolboy

Narsingdi: Five Narsingdi men have been handed down death penalty as a tribunal there found them guilty of killing a schoolboy back in 2013.
The condemned convicts were: 22-year-old Sajib Khan, son of Yasin Khan; 20-year-old Emran, son of Hazrat Ali; 19-year-old Shamim Osman, son of Aftab Uddin Bhuiya; 18-year-old Rubel, son of Ruhul Amin; and Shakil, who is 18 years old and son of Khorshed Alam, according to a UNB report.
All of them are residents of Badarpur village in Narsingdi Sadar upazila.
Among the convicts, Shakil was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, Hasibul Hasan, 6, a class I student of Brahmandi KKM Government Primary School and son of Sohrab Hossain, was strangulated to death by the convicts after abduction over family dispute on May 26, 2013.
Sohrab Hossain filed a case with Sadar Police in this connection.
After examining the records and 14 witnesses, Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Shamim Ahmed handed down the verdict.
