Gazipur: The railway communications of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet has been resumed after six hours of suspension.

Two compartments of a Chittagong-bound freight train derailed at Kaliganj upazila, Gazipur and snapped rail communications at about 4:00am on Monday.

The rail link was restored after the compartments were rescued at about 10:00am.

Joydebpur railway station master said the derailment took place near Arikhal area of the upazila at about 4:00am on Monday.

A rescue train from Dhaka went to the spot in the early hours of Monday.

The station master and Pubail railway police said the reason behind the derailment could not be known yet.
