Pabna: A man was killed during a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.

The deceased is Jahurul Islam, aged around 45 years.

A RAB team conducted a drive in village of Khalilpur at about 4:30am on Friday after they were tipped off that a gang of robber was taking preparation for a robbery, said RAB officials.

However, sensing the presence of RAB, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate.

Later, RAB members found body of Jahurul from the spot.

RAB also claimed to recover some local arms from the scene.

Pabna RAB camp Commander Mohammad Akram Hossain said a press conference will be held at about 10:00am in this connection.
