Satkhira: Police in a nightlong drive arrested 73 people, including 23 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, from different parts of Satkhira on Friday.

Launched on Thursday evening, the drive continued till Friday morning.

Mizanur Rahman, inspector of the Special Branch police, said of the arrestees, 25 were rounded up in Sadar upazila, 20 in Tala upazila, ten in Kaliganj upazila, five each in Kalaroa and Ashashuni upazilas, three each in Shyamnagar and Debhata upazilas and two in Patkelghata upazila.

They were wanted in several cases filed for subversive activities.
