Comilla: Another young man, who was injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over felling trees of a graveyard in Barpara area of Sadar upazila in Comilla, on Saturday night, died at Comilla Medical College Hospital early on Sunday.

The deceased is Hanif, a resident of the area.

The Sadar Police Officer-in-charge Abdur Rob said Hanif died at the hospital at about 12:30am.

Russel, was shot to death and five others injured in the Saturday’s clash.

Local people said there had been a longstanding dispute between the two groups of villagers over felling some trees at the graveyard for some repair works.

As a sequel to the dispute, about 40 people, led by Barpara union council member Saju, launched an attack on their rivals in front of Mainamati Medical College Hospital in the union council at about 7:30am.

The attackers hacked and fired gunshot at their rivals, leaving several people injured.

Critically injured six people, including Russel and Hanif, were rushed to Mainamati Medical College Hospital.

Later, the duo was shifted to Comilla Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated, where Russel succumbed to his injuries at about 8:15pm on Saturday.
