15 female recruits of BGB join duty in Jessore
Benapole: Fifteen members of Border Guard Bangladesh’s (BGB’s) first batch of female have been assigned to active duty at Benapole check post on Monday morning.
Earlier, 97 female recruits formally joined the the paramilitary force through a march-past on 5 June.
Among them, 15 members have been appointed to the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Benapole of Jessore BGB battalion 26.
According to BGB officials, out of 100 female recruits, 97 completed the training successfully. They joined the force formally following the march-past held at BGB Training Centre and School of Baitul Izzat, Satkania in Chittagong on 5 June.
Newly appointed female BGB member Nargis Khatun told reporters that she joined Benapole border for performing her duty and she is enjoying her job.
Lt Col Jahangir Alam, commanding officer of Jessore BGB battalion-26, said women smugglers are very active along Benapole border and it will be easier for female BGB members to check the women suspects.
