150 sued over Comilla Univ BCL leader killing

Comilla: A case has been filed against 150 people for their alleged involvement in the killing of a leader of the Comilla University (CU) unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in an intra-party clash on the campus on Monday.
Security officer of the university Sadeq Hossain filed the case with Comilla Sadar Dakkhin Model Police Station against the 150 unidentified people on Monday night, said Superintendent of Police of the district Mohammad Shah Abid Hossain.
Meanwhile, police detained 10 students of CU and two outsiders from the campus for quizzing.
Khaled Saifullah, a student of the Marketing Department and organising secretary of the Kabi Nazrul Hall unit of BCL, was killed and five others were injured in the clash on the campus on Monday morning.
Mujibur Rahman, registrar of the university, said the clash ensued between the followers of university unit BCL president Alif and another BCL leader Ilias Sabuj centring lighting candles in front of the portrait of Banghabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus marking the Month of Mourning.
During the fight, the two sides exchanged gunshots leaving Khaled, a follower of Sabuj group, injured with bullets.
Khaled was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
The clash prompted the authorities to shut down the university for an indefinite period.
