Man killed in ‘gunfight’ in Rajshahi

Rajshahi: A 30-year-old man was killed in a reported gunfight with police near Motihar police station area in Rajshahi in the early hours of Tuesday.
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital authorities said a team of Metropolitan police brought a bullet-hit young man to the emergency unit of the hospital at about 4:00am.
Doctors of the emergency unit said the man was died before brought to the hospital.
Metropolitan police spokesman Senior Assistant Commissioner Iftekhayer Alam said miscreants hurled crude bombs to police at about 3:00am during a special raid of police in Ashraf’s junction area of the city, which triggered a gunfight between police and the miscreants.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the bullet-hit body of a man.
Senior Assistant Commissioner said police recovered a pistol, bullets and remains of crude bombs from the spot.
