Sylhet: A Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) student has been detained on suspicion of having links to banned Islamist group Ansarullah Bangla Team.

Jalalabad Police Station officer-in-charge Akhter Hosaain said a counter-terrorism police unit picked up Iffat Ahmed Chowdhury Nahid from the campus on Tuesday afternoon.  

Iffat Ahmed is a fourth year student of Industrial and Production Engineering (IPE) department of the university, confirmed SUST Acting Proctor Rashed Talukder.

Iffat is the son of Khaled Ahmed Chowdhury and his family stays at Uddipan Residential area at Mirabazar in the Sylhet city.

Khaled Chowdhury said my son was busy with study, as far I am concerned, he had no link with terrorism.
