Another SUST student held over militant link

Sylhet: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested another student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Dhaka on Wednesday for his suspected link to militancy.
The arrestee is Jewel Ahmad, member of banned Islamist outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir and a resident of Bianibazar upazila.
Major Fakhrul Islam Khan, deputy director of RAB-9, confirmed that Jewel is a student of the university.
The major said the elite force conducted a drive in different places of Sylhet from Wednesday morning to night and arrested Jewel for his suspected involvement in militant activities as part of the government’s anti-terrorism campaign.
The law enforcers earlier arrested Iffat Ahmed Chowdhury, a fourth year student of Industrial and Production Engineering Department (IPE) of the university and son of Khaled Chowdhury of Nijkura village of Osmaninagar upazila of the district on 2 August and Abdul Aziz, a 4th year student of the same department on 18 July suspecting their involvement in militancy.
