Sholakia attacker among two killed in ‘gunfight’

Dhaka: Two men including Shafiul Islam, one of the Sholakia attackers, were killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Nandail of Mymensingh on Thursday night.
Another deceased is Abu Mokatil, said the Nandail police. However, details about Mokatil could not be known immediately.
The Nandail Police Officer-in-charge Mohammad Ataur Rahman told NTV Online two men were killed in a gunfight with RAB at the village of Dangi near Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Nandail at about 11:15pm.
RAB headquarter in a press release said two men including Shafiul Islam, who was held from the attack scene at Sholakia in Kishoreganj on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, were killed in a gunfight with RAB members.
RAB claimed three of their members were also injured during the gunfight.
They recovered two motorcycles, firearms, bombs, and explosives from the spot.
On 7 July, the Eid day, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked at a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
