Bagerhat: A young man was found dead in a canal at Panchakaran union council of Morrelganj upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased is Sheikh Riyad Hossain, 30, a local fish trader and son of Siddikur Rahman, a resident of Kharoikhali village of the union, reports UNB.

Family members said Riyad had been missing since he went out of his house on Wednesday morning.

Locals spotted his body in the canal on Friday morning and informed police.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue, said sub-inspector Monowar Hossain, in-charge of Panchgaon police camp.

Miscreants slaughtered him after chopping off his two hands and the tendon of his left leg, added the SI.

The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately.
