Shafiul’s body handed over to family in Mymensingh

Mymensingh: Police handed over the body of Shafiul Islam, a suspected Islamist militant who was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion, to his family on Saturday.
Shafiul Islam, who was a suspect of Sholakia Eid Congregation attack, was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion at Nandail in Mymensingh on Thursday.
Nandail Police handed over the body to Shafiul’s mother Nargis Sultana Sheuli in the afternoon.
After autopsy the body was kept at the morgue of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Friday.
After all formalities, Shafiul’s mother left for Dakkhin Debipur village under Ghoraghat thana in Dinajpur with the body in an ambulance.
Two alleged militants, including Shafiul Islam alias Saiful Islam, 22, son of Abdul Hai and an accused in a case over the terrorist attack on police near Sholakia Eid congregation ground in Kishoreganj district, were killed in a reported gunfight between their cohorts and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Nandail upazila on Thursday night.
Earlier on July 7, the Eid day, three people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
Abir Rahman, a student of North South University and an alleged militant, was killed in the gunfight with police while Shafiul arrested from the scene.
