Rajshahi: A man was killed in a reported gunfight with police in the Jhikra area of Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased was a member of banned militant organisation Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB), claimed police.

The district’s Detective Branch Police Sub-inspector Kaiyum said the young man was killed in a gunfight with police in the Jhikra area of Bagmara upazila at about 2:30am.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, said the sub-inspector.

Police said a press conference will be organised at superintendents of police’s office at about 12:00noon.
