5 workers die ‘inhaling toxic gas’ in Jessore
Jessore: Five construction workers died reportedly inhaling toxic gas inside an under-construction septic tank at Saraskathi village in Keshabpur upazila on Monday afternoon, reports UNB.
The deceased are Ahad Ali Gazi, 45, and Shafiqul Islam, 23, of Barandali village; Abdul Hamid, 22, Iqbal Hossain, 35, and Ibad Hossain, 28, of nearby Sahapur village in the upazila.
Constable Zahidul Islam of Keshabpur Police Station said the five workers went down the septic tank at about 4:00pm to remove support of its newly-built slab.
However, they died one after another inside the tank inhaling toxic gas, he said, adding that a police team, led by inspector (Investigation) Sheikh Masudur Rahman, went to the spot.
