Mustafizur elated receiving Sheikh Hasina’s phone call ahead of surgery
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday phoned country’s pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman prior to his surgery on his left shoulder in London.
During her conversation with the pacer around 5:00 pm (BST), Sheikh Hasina enquired about his treatment and surgery-related issues and deeply encouraged him, according to a press release signed by PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.
The Prime Minister told Mustafiz that she had asked Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon, now in London, to oversee his overall treatment.
She also wished successful surgery and quick recovery of Mustafiz and urged the people of the country to pray for him.
Receiving the Prime Minister’s phone, Mustafizur got overwhelmed and expressed his deep gratitude to the cricket loving, sports and games-friendly PM.
Mustafizur, a left-arm pacer, complained of pain after his second match for Sussex on July 22. He was ruled out of the rest of their one-day and T20 campaign with a SLAP (Superior Labrum from Anterior to Posterior) tear, and did not return to Bangladesh, instead meeting specialists for the injury to his left shoulder.
