Tangail: Five people were killed and eight others injured after a bus rammed into a truck at Charpara area in Mirzapur upazila in Tangail on early Sunday.

The identity of the deceased and the injured, passengers of the bus, could not be ascertained immediately. The injured were admitted to Kumudini Hospital in Tangail.

Police told NTV Online the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus rammed into a goods-laden truck parked in the area at about 4:00am, leaving three passengers of the bus dead on the spot.

Highway Police and locals rushed to the spot to rescue the victims and sent them to Kumudini hospital. Two people died on their way to the hospital.

Gorai Highway Police officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir confirmed the accident.
