Dhaka: The police will take additional security measures so that people can celebrate Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Bangla year 1422, peacefully on Tuesday.

A coordinated ‘safe zone’ will be created in and around the city for ensuring foolproof security for the city dwellers, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told a press briefing at the DMP media centre on Sunday.

Members of the police, Rab, Ansar and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) will be deployed in Ramna Park area so that no unpleasant incident takes place during the Pahela Boishakh celebrations, said the DMP Commissioner.

He urged all to keep the Ramna Park area free from smoking, and not to carry any handbag to the celebration spot due to safety reasons.

Besides, close circuit television cameras (CCTV) will be installed in the Ramna Park area for ensuring security, he said.

He also requested people not to pay heed to any rumour, and leave the venue by 5:30 pm.
