Swechchhasebak Dal leader stabbed dead in Sylhet

Sylhet: A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Sheikhghat Khuliatula area of Sylhet on Saturday night.
The deceased is Tajul Islam, believed to be in his fifties, member of the city unit of the BNP’s volunteer front and husband of Shahana Sanu, former councillor of ward-4 of Sylhet City Corporation.
Azim Uddin Patwary, second officer of Kotwali police station, said around three miscreants riding a motorcycle attacked Tajul in front of Gorom Dewan Mazar in the area and stabbed him indiscriminately at about 10:00pm which left him critically injured.
Later he was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, police arrested two brothers Gulzar and Dulal in connection with the incident.
Earlier, Tajul’s son Sohan had been stabbed to death in an attack by miscreants on 26 January, 2014 and later in another criminal attack his another son Raihan was stabbed and injured.
Gulzar and Dulal were made accused in the case filed over the murder of Sohan.
Police suspect Tajul has been killed as a sequel to a longstanding dispute between Sanu and Gulzar over a piece of land.
