Rajshahi: Police recovered a bullet-riddled body of a man from Naodapara Bypass area under Shahmukhdum Police Station in the city on Monday early morning.

The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam who was the security guard of Islami Bank Medical College Hospital in the city.

On information from the locals, a police team rushed to the place of occurrence and recovered the body, said Ifte Khayer Alam, Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The body has been sent to the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College.

The matter is being investigated to trace out the reason behind the incident, he added.

Rajshahi city Chhatra Shibir secretary Abdullah Jobayer claimed that DB police detained former Chhatra Shibir and currently Jamaat activist Shahidul last night. After detaining, Police shot him to death violating law.

But Assistant Commissioner of Police Ifte Khayer Alam denied the claim.
