Khaleda Zia to attend Boishakh programme at Nayapaltan

Dhaka: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will go to her party’s Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday to attend a programme to be arranged by her party’s cultural wing to celebrate the Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year 1422.
‘Our chairperson Khaleda Zia will be at our Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday to attend a cultural programme to be arranged by our party’s cultural wing Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) to welcome the Bangla New Year,’ said BNP’s international affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon.
He made the announcement while addressing a press briefing at the party’s central office.
Ripon said Khaleda is scheduled to join the programme at 4:00pm and speak on the occasion.
It will be her first visit to her office since the 5 January lection boycotted by her party and alliance.
On 21 October, 2013, Khaleda had last visited her party’s Nayapaltan headquarters to see then ailing BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, now in jail.
Khaleda attempted to go the Nayapaltan central office on 3 January this year again to visit Rizvi as he had fallen inside it but police did not allow her to come out of her Gulshan office.
Two days later, she again tried to come out of her office to join her party-led 20-party's much-hyped rally in front of it on 5 January to mark what she said 'Democracy Killing Day' to protest the 10th parliamentary polls, but police intercepted her and confined her to inside her Gulshan political office, prompting her to enforce a non-stop blocked.
The party is yet to announce to withdraw the transport blockade though it has lost its effect in every way.
Later, Khaleda had stayed inside her political office for nearly three months and finally returned to her Gulshan residence on 5 April.
