Dhaka: A court here on Monday placed detained Zikrullah, Ariful Islam and Saiful on a three-day remand in the blogger Washiqur Rahman Babu killing case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud passed the order after Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police M Mizanur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before his court seeking a four-day remand for each of them.

Zikrullah and Ariful were earlier put on remand in the case twice while Saiful was taken in custody for the first time.

On March 30, blogger Washiqur Rahman Babu, 26, also an employee of Fareast Travels Ltd, was hacked to death at South Begunbari in Tejgoan Industrial area of the capital.

Monir Hossain, brother-in-law (husband of sister) of Washiqur, filed a killing case against four people -- Zikrullah, Ariful, Abu Taher and Masum -- with Tejgaon Police Station on the night of March 30.

Police caught Zikrullah and Ariful red-handed with three homemade sharp weapons while fleeing from the place of occurrence. Taher and Masum remained absconding now.

According to police, Zikrullah, 20, was a student of Hathazari Madrasah in Chittagong while Ariful, 20, a student of Mirpur Section Darul Ulum Madrasah.

The sensational case was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of police from Tejgaon Industrial Police Station on March 31.

On March 24, police arrested Saiful from Jatrabari area in an arms case.

Later, he was shown arrested in the Washiqur killing case.
