Man held carrying 23kg gold at Dhaka Airport
Dhaka: Customs officials arrested a young man along with 23kg of gold, worth 11 crore, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday night.
The arrested person was identified as Ataul Majid, 32, a passenger of Singapore Airlines, flight number SQ 446, according to a UNB report.
The flight of Singapore Airlines landed at the airport around 10:30pm.
It was understood that custom officials stopped Majid while he was crossing the green channel at the airport in a wheelchair, said assistant commissioner of Dhaka Customs House HM Ahsanul Karim.
Searching Majid’s body, they recovered 225 gold bars and some ornaments, he added.
