337 Bangladeshis on way to Kerala from Yemen

Dhaka: A total of 337 Bangladeshi nationals who were stranded in Yemen are now on their way to Kerala, India by ships for their eventual repatriation to Bangladesh.  

They were evacuated from the Yemeni cities of Saana, Hodeida and Aden by Indian naval ships and are now on board two Indian passenger ships, a foreign ministry press release said on Monday.

‘There are 272 Bangladeshi nationals in one ship named MV Corals and there are 65 on board the other ship MV Kavaratti,’ the release said, adding out of 337 Bangladeshi nationals, 14 are women and 13 children.

The ships sailed at 0500 hours Djibouti time on April 12 and are expected to arrive at the Indian seaport of Kochi, Kerala on the morning of April 18.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka is arranging for their onward journey from Kerala to Dhaka by special flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the release said.
