4 ‘ABT men’ held in Faridpur; arms, ammo recovered

Faridpur: Four suspected members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) were arrested and three firearms, 10 bullets, 22 crude bombs, and huge explosives were recovered in separate police drives in three upazilas of Faridpur on Friday, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Farid Mridha, 32, suspected leader of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) of Faridpur region and three of his associates—Nahid Mollah alias Nadim, 20, Sahidul Islam, 35 and Mohsin Mollah, 35.
At a press briefing on Saturday, Superintendent of Faridpur Police Jamil Hossain said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in Bhanga upazila and arrested Nadim.
According to his statement during interrogation, police conducted a drive in Sadarpur upazila at night and arrested three others ABT men along with a nine mm pistol, one shooter gun, five bullets and 12 crude bombs.
After gleaning information from Farid, police conducted another drive in Char Bhadrashan upazila and recovered another nine mm pistol, five bullets, bomb making materials and religious books from a shop owned by him.
Police also recovered 10 more crude bombs from Nahid’s house in Bhanga upazila.
