Comilla: A court in Comilla on Sunday sentenced four people to life term imprisonment for killing a man in Barura upazila in 2003, reports UNB.
Brothers Masum and Ali Akbar, Ali Akbar’s son Mozammel, and Aman Ullah, were found guilty of the murder of Ijjat Ali, son of Jabbar Ali on 8 March 2003 over a longstanding feud. They later dumped the body by a road at Baro Dharmapur in the upazila. The victim and the perpetrators all belonged to the Boro Batua village.
The victim’s brother Liakat Ali filed a case against 7-8 unidentified people with Comilla Kotwali Police Station on the day.
On 2 November 2003, police submitted a charge-sheet accusing five individuals.
After examining the witnesses and documents, Judge of Comilla Additional and Session Judge’s Court-3 M Ali Ahmed handed down the verdict acquitting a man, M Tanvir, another son of Ali Akbar.
Two of the guilty, Masum and Aman Ullah, remain absconding.
