Satkhira: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh arrested an alleged smuggler in possession of 16kg gold at Taluigachha border point in Sadar upazila of Satkhira on Friday noon.

The arrestee was identified as Aliuzzaman, son of Shafiqul Islam of Keragachhi border area in Kolaroa upazila.

Public Relations officer Shamsul Alam of BGB-38 battalion said on secret information, the BGB members challenged motorcyclist Aliuzzaman in the area at about 12:00pm and arrested him.

They recovered gold bars worth Tk 6.34 crore from under the seat of the motorcycle, UNB reported.
