Muslim devotees, ISKCON followers hurl brick-chips at each other in Sylhet

Sylhet: At least seven people were injured as police fired rubber bullets while followers of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and local Muslims hurled brick-chips at each other in Sylhet on Friday.
Locals said the incident took place as religious songs and music were on at the Sree Sree Radha Madhav Jiu ISKCON temple at Kajal Shah area of the city during the prayer time for the Muslims at noon.
Police said, major clashes have been avoided as the main gate of the temple was locked and the police took immediate steps.
At least 15 people have been arrested from the spot and the situation is under control now, added police.
Former councillor Jebunnahar Shirin, 58; Saju Akter, 28; Babul Ahmed, 43, Saeed, 24; Arif, 22; Sumon, 17; and Raju Biswas were among the injured who have been admitted to Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Doctor said six of them were injured by rubber bullets fired by police. The injured are being treated.
