BCL infighting leaves 2 killed
Dinajpur: Two Bangladesh Chhatra League activists were killed during a reported gunfight between two factions of the ruling party backed political organisation for students at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University in Dinajpur on Thursday night.
At least 20 more activists were injured during the fatal gunfight between the factions to occupy a students’ dormitory.
The deceased are Agriculture bachelor’s 4th year student Milton and Business Studies 2nd year student Jakaria. Milton was from Kishorganj in Rangpur and Jakaria was from Bara Gurgola in Dinajpur.
District Superintendent of Police Ruhul Amin and local people said two BCL factions one led by university unit president Real and general secretary Arun and another by Rajjab started fighting at about 7:30pm to occupy Sheikh Russel Hall.
Both groups shot numerous bullets.
University vice-chancellor, proctor and provost did not respond to phone calls.
