Govt to bear Tongi boiler blast victims’ treatment cost: State minister
Dhaka: The government will bear the medical treatment expenditures of those injured in a boiler blast at the Tampaco Foils Factory at Tongi BSCIC Industrial area in Gazipur.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque disclosed this to reporters while he paid a visit to those admitted at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) today, reports BSS.
He said the government will bear the expenditures for medical treatment of those admitted into Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and different hospitals at Tongi following the fire incident.
Health and Family Welfare Ministry additional secretary Biman Kumar Saha, Health Directorate director general Abul Kalam Azad, Dhaka Medical College principal Ismail Hossain Khan, Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute chief coordinator Samanta Lal Sen, and Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad secretary general MA Aziz, were present, among others at that time.
At least 25 people have been killed and 70 injured, many critically, in a huge fire triggered by a boiler explosion at the factory in Gazipur on Saturday.
