Jhenaidah: A policeman was killed and his wife injured following a head-on collision between two motorcycles on Jhenaidah-Kushtia road in Shailkupa upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased is Zahid Hasan, 35, sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police of Narail district and son of Nizam Uddin of Bahanbaria village in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia.

Assistant police super (Sadar circle) of Jhenaidah Gopinath Kandi Nath said the bike riding Zahid and his wife Salma Akhter collided with another motorbike on the road at Bhatoibazar at noon, leaving them injured critically.

They were first taken to Sadar Hospital. Later, Zahid died on the way to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in the afternoon.
