Abbas pledges to build int’l standard city
Dhaka: BNP-blessed mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mirza Abbas on Monday unveiled his election manifesto making 98 promises under broader 10 points with a slogan to build a liveable city.
His wife Afroza Abbas, who has been campaigning for Abbas since 8 April as he is yet to get bails in various cases, launched his election manifesto at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club.
Abbas focused on 10 larger issues—civic service, civic amusement, healthcare, education, easing traffic jam development of communication infrastructures, city environment and waste management, ICT, social service, public safety, and city plan and administration to build an international standard modern city upholding its traditions.
Afroza read out the manifesto at the press conference, saying if elected they will implement their plans on priority basis.
She demanded deployment of army and installation of CC cameras at all polling stations to ensure a fair balloting.
BNP standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah Adarsha Dhaka Andolan, an electoral platform of pro-BNP professionals, convener Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, member secretary Shawkat Mahmud and its member journalist Mahfuz Ullah were, among others, present.
