Another case filed over Tampaco factory fire

Gazipur: A case has been filed over the fire incident in the factory of ‘Tampaco Foils Ltd’ in Tongi BSCIC Industrial Area, which has so far claimed 33 lives.

Ajit Chakrabarty, sub-inspector of Tongi Police Station, filed the case with the police station on Sunday morning, assistant sub-inspector Nitai Chandra told UNB.

Owner of the factory Syed Mokbul Hossain, also a former lawmaker, his wife Parvin, and eight others were made accused in the case.

Earlier on 11 September, Abdul Quader Patwary, father of deceased worker Mohammad Hossain Jewel, filed a murder case against eight people, including the factory owner, with the police station.

The seven other accused are Mokbul’s wife Parvin, factory managing director Tanvir Ahmed, general manager Shafiqur Rahman, manager (administration) Monir Hossain, manager (general) Samir Ahmed, manager Hanif and DMD Alamgir Hossain.

Gas leakage caused the fire at the flexible and tobacco packaging factory in the early hours of 10 September.
