Rajshahi: A woman attempted to kill herself after allegedly killing her 7-year-old son at Budhpara area in the city on Saturday night, reports UNB.

Quoting relatives, police said Taslima Begum, wife of school teacher Rafiqul Islam, stabbed her son Kabbyo, 7, with a sharp weapon and attempted to kill herself in the same way after locking the door on Saturday night.

On information, police recovered the body of Kabbyo after breaking open the door at about 11:00pm and rescued Taslima from the room in unconscious condition, said Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station.

Later, she was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Family members of Taslima claimed that she was mentally sick.

However, local people said Taslima might have killed her son following a family feud.
