Awami League infighting kills 2 in Kushtia

Two people were killed and 20 others injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League over establishing supremacy at Machhpara village in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased are Iman Ali and Shahabuddin.
Jhaudia police camp in-charge Dilip Kumar said two groups of AL — one led by incumbent union chairman Keramat Ali and another by former chairman Bakhtiar — had long been at loggerheads over establishing dominance in the area, reports UNB.
As a sequel to this, supporters of both the groups locked in an altercation in the area at about 6:00am.
At one stage, both the groups equipped with firearms took position in the area and exchanged gunshots, triggering a clash.
The clash that continued for about two hours left Iman Ali dead on the spot and 20 other people injured on both sides.
Of them, eight bullet-injured were admitted to Kushtia General Hospital where Shahabuddin succumbed to his injures at about 9:45am, said Residential Medical Officer of the hospital Dr Taposh Kumar Sarker.
