Satkhira: A college student committed suicide by hanging herself from a scarf in her house in Satkhira town after reportedly snapping selfie.

The victim, Jannatul Mawa, of Kashimpur village near the district town, was a first year HSC student of a college in Dhaka.

Satkhira Police Station Sub-inspector (SI) Himel Hossain said police, on receiving information, went the house and found the girl hanging herself from a scarf with the ceiling of her own house on Thursday morning.

An unnatural death case was filed over the incident, said the SI.

Himel Hossain said, he seized a cell phone owned by Mawa to investigate the case and found the selfie in the mobile phone.

The SI assumed she captured selfie wearing scarf around her neck and hanged herself leaving the handset after snapping selfie.
