Tangail AL leader Faruk murder: 2 more accused sent to jail

Tangail: A court in Tangail on Saturday sent two more accused in Awami League leader Faruk Ahmed murder case to jail rejecting their bail prayers, reports UNB.
The accused are Nasir Uddin Nuru and former councilor of Tangail municipality Masudur Rahman Masud.
Additional District and Session’s Judge Abul Mansur Miah passed the order when the two accused surrendered before his court at noon seeking bails, said inspector of Tangail Detective Branch (DB) of police Ashok Kumar.
Earlier on September 18, the same court sent lawmaker Amanur Rahman Rana to jail rejecting his bail prayer after he surrendered before the court.
Of the 14 charge-sheeted accused, seven, including Rana, are now behind the bars while the rest seven are on the run.
Among the arrestees, Aminul Islam Raja and Mohammad Ali made their confessional statements to police.
Those absconding are Rana’s brothers Sahidur Rahman Khan Mukti, former mayor of Tangail municipality, and Jahidur Rahman Khan Kakon, a business leader of Tangail, and Saniyat Khan Bappa, former vice-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Kabir Hossain, close aide of MP Rana, gatekeeper Babu alias Datvanga Babu, and two former Juba League men - Alamgir Hossain Chan and Sanwar Hossain Sanu.
On April 6, a court issued a warrant for the arrest of the 10 accused in the Awami League leader Faruk murder case after accepting the charge sheet submitted on 3 February 3 last by Inspector Golam Mahfizur Rahman.
Faruk Ahmed, an AL senior leader and also a freedom fighter, was gunned down in the district town on 18 January 2013.
