MP’s son Rumon to be quizzed for 3 days in extortion case

Satkhira: Rashed Sarwar Rumon, son of Rifat Amin, a lawmaker of a reserved seat for woman in Satkhira, has been sent to police custody for three days to be interrogated in connection with a case filed over extortion allegation.
Satkhira Chief Judicial Magistrate Habibullah Bahar on Sunday passed the order after police placed Rumon before the court seeking 10 days to question Rumon, sources at the court said.
The court also asked police to interrogate Rumon at jail gate for two days and at Sadar Police station on the other day.
On 11 September, Rumon along with his associates reportedly beat up four people, including local Juba League leader Julfiker Ali Uzzal, in the district town as they refused to pay him extortion.
Juba League leader Uzzal and businessman Sirajul Islam Bullet filed an extortion case against him with Sadar Police Station on the same day.
On 18 September, a team of police arrested Rumon from Palashpur area of the district town.
