Meherpur: A local Juba Dal leader was stabbed to death by miscreants in Thanapara area of Gangni upazila of Meherpur over previous enmity early on Monday.

The deceased is Abul Khayer, in his thirties, a resident of the area.

The municipality Juba Dal claimed Abuk Khayer was the general secretary of the party.

Gangni Police Officer-in-charge Anwar Hossain said a gang of miscreants attacked Khayer and stabbed him while he was returning home riding on a motorcycle from his shop in the area at Sunday night, leaving him critically injured.

Later he was taken to Kushtia Medical College Hospital.

As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died at about 4:00am.

A case was filed in this connection.
