No proof of Tahmid’s link in Gulshan attack: police
Dhaka: Police have not found any link of Tahmid Hasib Khan, a student of Canada’s Toronto University, in the attack at Holey Artisan restaurant at Gulshan in Dhaka on 1 July, in which 28 people were killed.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner Monirul Islam made the statement at a press briefing at the DMP media centre in Dhaka on Monday.
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit chief said that Tahmid was arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for hiding information and not cooperating with police. He has been granted bail, but the investigation on the attack is not finished yet. If any clue of his involvement is found, he will be arrested again.
Tahimd was released from judicial custody on Sunday night after he secured bail.
Pointing at the arrest of former North South University teacher Hasnat Karim, Monirul said, police are not confirmed yet whether he was involved in the attack. He is being interrogated.
