Rangpur: A schoolboy succumbed at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Monday after being injured seriously by his friend while playing cricket on Saturday, police said.

The deceased is Sunny, a student of class six of Koilash Ranjan High School of Shalbon area in the city.

Sunny was injured when his friend Fahim, hit him at the head with a cricket bat after being out (LBW) by Sunny while playing cricket at nearby Rangpur Polytechnic Institute ground on Saturday afternoon.

Sunny was rushed to RMCH immediately, and later, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday after fighting with life for the past couple of days.

The victim's father Omar Ali filed a murder case with Kotwali police station on monday accusing six persons in this connection.

Confirming the incident, Kotwali police officer-in-charge Abdul Kader Zilani said that efforts were on to nab the accused persons.
