Police claimed a ‘robber’ was killed on early Tuesday in a ‘gunfight’ between two groups of ‘robbers’ at Char Afzal in Ramgati upazila.

The deceased is Majnu.

Lakshmipur Superintendent of police ASM Mahatab Uddin said a gunfight between two groups of ‘robbers’ — one led by Fakir and the other by Majnu — broke out at the village at about 3:30am, leaving one of them dead on the spot.

Police went to the spot and recovered the body of Majnu in the morning.

The body was sent to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police also recovered one pipe gun and some bullet shells from the spot.

Police said Majnu was wanted in 14 cases including those for robbery and kidnapping.
