Ajay Roy laid to rest

Dhaka: Veteran leftist politician Comrade Ajay Roy, who passed away on Monday, was laid to eternal rest in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj district on Wednesday.
According to his last wish, he was buried at Nandigram village of the upazila at about 5:00pm, reports UNB.
His body was taken to Bangram High School ground at about 4:30pm where people from all walks of life, including Awami League MP Advocate Sohrab Ahmed, paid respects to him placing wreaths at his coffin.
Earlier in the morning, people from all strata of life, including politicians, cultural personalities and activists, students and teachers, flocked to Central Shaheed Minar and bade farewell to the politician.
Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique,
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Gano Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain, Dhaka University Professor Emirates Dr Anisuzzaman, leaders of Sammilita Samajik Andolon, Comrade Khalequzzaman, actor Ramendu Majumdar placed wreaths at the coffin.
Awami League General Secretary and Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam also placed a wreath on behalf of Awami League.
Later, Ajay’s body was sent to Bangram in Katiadi upazila at about 11:30am by an ambulance.
Veteran leftist politician Comrade Ajay Roy passed away at his residence in Dhanmondi area on Monday at the age of 88.
