Two murder suspects killed in ‘shootout’
Chuadanga: Two men suspected of killing a class VIII student Mahfuz Alam Shajib were killed in an alleged gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Chuadanga’s Damurhuda upazila in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased are Shabuj, in his twenties, of C&B para of Chuadanga town, and Shakil, around 21 years, a resident of Dashamipara of Damurhuda upazila, said RAB officials.
Shabuj and Shakil were wanted in a case filed over abduction and murder of Mahfuz Alam Shajib, a student of Chuadanga’s VJ Government High School.
Jhenaidah RAB 6 Company Commander Major Monir Ahmed said miscreants opened fire to RAB as they went to patrol in Darshana’s Shantipara area as a part of their regular duty. RAB also fired back to the miscreants, which triggered a gunfight at about 2:45am. Later, RAB recovered two bodies from the spot.
The RAB 6 company commander said the law enforcers also recovered a revolver, a pipegun, four bullets, and two locally-made sharp weapons from the spot.
Earlier, on 29 July, miscreants kidnapped Shajib for ransom from agricultural fair of Damurhuda. Later, on 31 August, police recovered the decayed body of Shajib from a septic tank of a residence in Chuadanga town’s C&B para area.
