Satkhira: A man was allegedly killed after being hit with a stick by his elder brother over a trifling matter at Manikpur village in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira on Thursday.

The deceased is Muttasir Billah, age around 16 years, of the village.

The Shyamnagar Police Officer-in-charge Mostafizur Rahman said Masum Billah, around 18 years old, and his younger brother Muttasir Billah had an altercation over eating sugarcane in the afternoon.

Infuriated, Masum hit Muttasir with a stick, leaving him critically injured.

Later, Muttasir was rushed to Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue.

Police could not arrest Masum as he went into hiding.
