RU teachers, students demand justice for Lipu

Rajshahi: Teachers and students of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Rajshahi University on Saturday formed a human chain on the campus on Thursday demanding punishment of the killers of Motaleb Hossain Lipu.
Witnesses said a group of teachers and students of the department joined their hands to form a human chain on the campus at about 11:00am demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the killers.
Later, they brought out a silent procession that ended it in front of the department after marching different roads, reports UNB.
Speaking on the occasion, department chairman Pradip Kumar Pande said ‘I believe that the mystery behind the killing will be unearthed if the administration works sincerely. We demand proper investigation into the murder.’
Abdullahil Baki, another teacher of the department, said students reside in halls for security but dormitories are no longer safe for them.
The body of Lipu, 22, a 2nd year student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of the university and son of Badar Uddin of Mukimpur village in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah, was found in a drain of Nabab Abdul Latif Hall on the campus on Thursday morning.
The body bore several injury marks on its back and head.
Victim’s uncle Bashir Mollah filed a case with Motihar Police Station against unnamed people in this connection.
