Roommate Manirul sent to jail over Lipu murder
Rajshahi: Rajhsahi University (RU) student Manirul Islam, who was arrested in connection with the killing of his roommate Motaleb Hossain Lipu, was sent to jail on Sunday, reports UNB.
Ashok Chouhan, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Motihar Police Station, said Manirul was shown arrested in the case and produced before a court in the city.
Later, the court sent him to jail.
Besides, teachers and students of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Rajshahi University formed a human chain on the campus on Sunday demanding punishment of the killers of Motaleb Hossain Lipu.
Campus sources said a group teachers and students of the department, under the banner of ‘Family of Mass Communication and Journalism Department’ formed the human chain on the campus at about 10:30am demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the killers.
They also threatened to go for tougher movement if no visible steps are taken to arrest the killers within October 31.
The body of Lipu, 22, a 2nd year student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of the university and son of Badar Uddin of Mukimpur village in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenidah district, was found in a drain of Nabab Abdul Latif Hall on the campus on Thursday morning.
The body bore several injury marks on its back and head.
Victim’s uncle Bashir Mollah filed a case with Motihar police station against unnamed people in this connection.
